L’Orange Bleue Project Series: A Sight-Specific Portrait Series that playfully re-creates the experience of a remarkable place in time. The show consists of 25 interchangeable portraits that vigorously portray regular personalities who dramatically affect the dynamic of this particular space on any given night. The installation will open with the intensity of all 24 portraits. After the first weeks, the piece will become "move-able", exhibiting 8-24 portraits at a time, rotating them randomly. Each rotation, producing a different combination of characters, will impact the mood and feel of the space differently, as do actual gatherings of the characters they represent. 2007LOrange_Bleue_Project.html
Nikki & Johnny: Appropriating public photos from the internet of an art collector, I paint myself in as an intimate character from his life. I Combine his photos with allegories from contemporary and classical art, culture and film. Assuming a fanatical relationship with a stranger with whom a connection was desired, I’ve used this series to investigate obsessive relationships, eventually ending the series within that psychological framework. 2009
*This series has been incorporated into a book, with text and additional artwork made from other mediums, available through the artist in 2010johnny_and_nikki_.html
Illusional Success Story: This series originated from reading about the law of attraction, and sparked an investigation of long time fantasies and obsessions, undoubtedly spiraling into a kooky, comic-like series. I collected snapshots of specific individuals that would appear in my life-to-be, and have plugged them into compositions from my personal photographs, incorporating them into my life, family and associating them to my art. This project is an investigation of my relationships , intimate and impersonal, with or to the personalities featured in the work. 2008Illusional_Success.html
