(Please see CV for details)**.
Nikki has recently returned (2011) from a Fall-Winter Artist Residency in Beijing. She was invited to self-curate an exhibition with Chinese Artist Li XinHui in a 20,000 sq meter space called Nova Art Coordinates. In 2010 Nikki was nominated for a 3 month Artist residency in Chengdu, China. There, she was invited to exhibit work at the Woman and Children’s Museum, and was also the first Foreign Artist in Chengdu to have a Solo exhibition, taking place at the Blue Roof Gallery.
CURATING/WRITING/COMMUNITY:
In addition to relentlessly making her own artwork, Nikki is very interested in the Healing and Collaborative aspects of Art. She is the Artist in Residence for Oncology/Hematology at Roosevelt Hospital, a residency of the Creative Center. She is an active member of the all-women contemporary artist collective tART and the Latin collective Propuesta 5. She is also a contributing writer for www.artcomments.com.
In 2009, Nikki began to curate exhibitions using primarily artwork from her artist community. She teamed up with Anna Lise Jensen to become “Seasonal Coalition”, based on mutual interest in mixing up public, private and functional aspects of exhibition spaces. Nikki has also partnered with Frederic Ozaneaux to create “Ozaneaux ArtSpace”, a space in the heart of the NY Gallery District, where she has been curating shows for artist peers, and housing the seasonal exhibitions of SummerSpace.

I am curious about dichotomous forces within us; perpetual struggle between conforming to a constrictive, socially-appeasing contrived persona and the freedom of truly Being. Using the language of portraiture, I investigate physical, social and psychological relationships conditional to my surroundings, encounters and personal experience. I’m interested in capturing fragments of perception's intangible reality, the colors and layers of personality, the human condition at work. My artwork candidly investigates and documents my world of obsessive fretting, theory-making, fantasy and self-discovery.
